Stocks staged a cautious rebound as gains in several technology companies helped offset worries about elevated Treasury yields and oil prices. The S&P 500 rose 0.2%. The yield on 10-year Treasuries advanced four basis points to 5.32%.

Economy
The US benchmark yield touched its highest level since 2002, the latest milestone in a months-long selloff in global sovereign debt. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note briefly rose above its 2007 peak to trade at 5.34% on Thursday. Earlier this week, the rate on 30-year US bonds also hit a 24-year high.

A pilot of a jet carrying more than 170 passengers to Tel Aviv stabbed his colleague and tried to crash the plane in what Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu branded a serious security incident.
