US stock futures slipped as crude prices ended their longest losing streak this year, with traders waiting for further progress in efforts to end the US-Iran war. The dollar hit the highest level since July.

Economy
US mortgage rates rose to the highest level in more than two years, further weighing on a housing market already suppressed by elevated prices and sluggish sales. The contract rate on a 30-year fixed mortgage rose 15 basis points to 7.12% in the week ended Sept. 18.

The South African Reserve Bank raised borrowing costs for the second time this year as policymakers seek to curb resurfacing price pressures triggered by the ongoing Iran and Ukraine wars.
